Pasadena Chemical Explosion Kills 1, Injures 3 Others
A chemical leak and explosion at the PeroxyChem plant in Pasadena, Texas has left one person dead and three more injured. The incident happened at roughly 12:45 p.m. Saturday afternoon when Pasadena officials were called regarding the explosion. Employees and contractors of PeroxyChem were said to be performing a routine function during the time and equipment belonging to the contractor exploded, according to officials of the company.
Based on immediate findings, authorities have said that an initial leak of an oil-based cleaning solution was present.
Early reports claim that one contractor was killed. Three other individuals were injured, including one who sustained a broken arm. There were two other individuals who were exposed to the chemical.
There is an ongoing investigation of the accident.
