Former Yahoo Employee Sues Over Company's Review System

According to a source report, Yahoo is facing a new lawsuit from a former employee. The claim states that the company’s performance review system is illegal and discriminatory. According to Yahoo, they claim that the performance review system promotes fairness as a guiding principle. The company states that it allows the team and employees to develop and do their best at work.

A large number of companies have a performance review system in place to help reward someone for a job well done or to re-evaluate someone’s position in the company. Unfortunately, if the process is discriminatory, it can result in someone who is more qualified for a job to be passed over based on their race, gender, sexual orientation, and other factors.

Under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), it is unlawful for a company to discriminate against any employee or potential employee. Because performance reviews often involve wages of an employee, there are other factors involved such as the Equal Pay Act.

Labor law matters are often complex because it goes beyond just how a company evaluates its employees. Employment law covers wage disputes, discrimination, retaliation, and more. There are laws in place that protect employees from these actions.
