A new article by The Center for Public Integrity discusses the deposition process for patients who are dealing with mesothelioma. For instance, the article talks about Nader Kordestani, a 75-year-old mesothelioma patient who is asked questions regarding his health and past events. Oftentimes, the questions are repetitive. This continues for over three hours, all while Kordestani struggles to provide answers through coughing and breathing troubles.
In California asbestos-related cases, the deposition can last roughly 20 hours, sometimes more. The patients have to endure this process, often struggling with their condition the entire time. This has led others to wonder how much is too much when it comes to lengthy depositions. The defense attorneys claim that the depositions allow for more detail and helps the company defend themselves.
