Guardrails are built with an end terminal plate, which is designed to safely absorb impact from oncoming cars while buckling the metal ribbons attached to it. The ET-Plus terminals, manufactured by Trinity Industries, were approved for use by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). However, in 2005, Trinity was found guilty of altering the design of the terminal without seeking approval from the FHWA, saving itself millions of dollars with no federal oversight.
As a result, when struck, Trinity guardrails do not buckle like they are intended to. Instead, they form spears that have caused at least five deaths and over a dozen severe injuries, with even more left unreported. If you or a loved one have been harmed by a Trinity-built guardrail or end terminal, you deserve justice. Bailey Cowan Heckaman PLLC has over 150 years of collective experience helping clients seek justice from the nation’s largest companies and corporations.
